Culture Day is a portrait of belonging across two homelands. It shows two young sisters dressed in their Queen Amalia Greek National costumes, garments filled with symbolism, history, and family memory. The painting reflects how cultural identity is passed on through tradition and pride, yet shaped by the landscape in which children grow. Worn among their school peers, these heirloom outfits, carried across generations and continents, become gentle declarations of Greekness that briefly brighten the multicultural life of an Australian school. Framed by a broad native tree and the familiar line of a colorbond fence, the scene reveals how heritage can settle quietly into a new environment, held by children who move with ease between worlds.
